The Gift Of Gift-Giving

WINTER MIGHT BE the coldest time of year in terms of weather, but it can also be the warmest in love and cheer thanks to that wonderful spirit of giving. Of course, we all love getting presents over the holidays, but there’s something extra special about seeing someone we care about open the presents we so carefully chose for them. That’s why our practice is taking a moment to look back on one of our favorite memories of gift-giving this year!

Our Team’s Favorite 2017 Christmas Gift-Giving Memory

This year we decided to combine team-building and giving back to our community and it proved to be one of our collective favorite gift giving memories.

The staff split into three teams and with the help of American Outback Adventures and their awesome app we were on our way to experiencing an amazing day of giving. Teams competed via a virtual app which included a leader board to track our progress (we like the friendly competition). Each team was given a list of opportunities to pay it forward including tasks such as: help a server clear tables, buy someone coffee, compliment someone, offer to help a city worker, write an uplifting note and leave it in a public place and then post photos on they app throughout the day. At the end of our activity we joined together to share our stories. The energy and happiness surrounding our team was abundant.

While it was a fantastic opportunity to work together outside the office it was also extremely gratifying to see how something so simple can make someone’s day and helps us continue to positively change lives including our own. Our stories and experiences were plentiful and the exercise was so impactful that we have added a “Pay it Forward” initiative to our 2018 goals. We are excited to continue to give the gift of giving to those in our downtown Omaha community throughout the entire year. It is one more way to help not just our patients but everyone around us to smile freely.

Looking For Fun Gift Exchange Ideas?
If you’re looking for a new gift-giving tradition to try out, take a look at a few of the ideas here. We’ve shared three of the ones we thought were unique!

“Cookie-swap packing party. Besides cookies to swap at the party, guests bring extras, along with metal tins, takeout containers, plastic boxes, and packing materials. Together, you carefully box up the extra cookies to ship to out-of-town family and friends, military, or even deliver to those in your own neighborhood.”

“Swap toys with Santa. Along with cookies and milk, leave (gently used) old toys under the tree on Christmas Eve for Santa to “take back to the North Pole.” (You can donate them to an organization like Toys for Tots or Goodwill.)”
